At the exact moment
Exactly 8 years ago, one of my closest friends called. “RC, watch the news. A bomb hit the Pentagon.” I immediately turned my TV on, it was 9pm in Manila.
Exactly halfway across the globe, there were no bombs. There were 4 planes. Planes with people.
I was still in 3rd year high school. It has been a long time and a lot of things have changed. But, we remember. We remember how that day came. September 11, there were no bombs. Just planes. And buildings. And people.
12,450 miles from New York City, Manila felt the shockwave. It’s the day we saw extreme inhumanity and humanity at the same time.
